Money Advice Rebrands to 'MoneyHelper'
Money Advice Service, The Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise have rebranded to ‘MoneyHelper’
Government backed The Money and Pensions Service or ‘MaPS’, which formed in 2019, has traditionally overseen three separate money advice brands: ‘Money Advice Service’ which most of us will be familiar with ‘The Pensions Advisory Service’ and ‘Pension Wise’. All three of these previously individual legacy brands have now been combined and rebranded under one umbrella brand ‘MoneyHelper’.
The new MoneyHelper service is available for free for anyone looking for help and guidance on everything from loans to pensions and savings. By combining the three brands the service aims to be a single destination for money and pension guidance.
Will I still be able to access the same services as before?
The short answer is yes, although you will no longer being able to access them via the three respective legacy websites for Money Advice Service, The Pensions Advisory Service and Pensions Wise as these will no longer be actively maintained.
You will instead be redirected to the most relevant MoneyHelper page. This has been put in place to assure the smoothest transition possible for existing users.
For frequent users of Pension Wise who may be worried about their ability to access and receive help through the normal channels, MaPS assures that Pension Wise will continue to remain its own entity and will simply become a service offered by MoneyHelper for convenience.
The Pension Wise team will remain, and the normal channels and numbers will be carried over so that over 50s will continue to have a straightforward access point to seek advice about their pension options.
Why the change?
By combining the three originally separate services into one place the aim is to make it quicker and easier to find the right help on one website, MoneyHelper.
With everything in one place, customers will be able to easily find, compare and switch between the three different brands as and when necessary, without having to go through multiple websites to do so.
MoneyHelper is geared towards helping people who have a limited experience managing money, seeking to help smooth over the initial process of financial wellbeing improvement and offering a guiding presence throughout the journey towards financial security.
It is the hope behind this decision that MoneyHelper will be able to provide a central point of reference and resources for both experienced financial organisers as well as those who are at the start of their financial wellbeing journey.
Chief executive of MaPS Caroline Siarkiewicz summarised the rationale behind the new financial hub: “MoneyHelper will be uniquely placed to empower people to inform themselves of their choices and improve their financial wellbeing across their lifetimes […] The new single brand will allow MaPS greater efficiencies so our efforts can be better focussed on delivering for the people across the UK.”
The brand MoneyHelper begun rolling out in early June 2021 and is now well on its way to becoming a well-established hub of financial resources.
